Hosted by former NFL player, Andrew Hawkins, Kneading Dough is a financial empowerment platform that invites the most recognizable athletes in the world to have a conversation about their experiences with money.
In collaboration with Moving Colour and their team, we created this animation to take our audience through Laila's story as soon as we dive into the episode - Using pictures from her childhood, illustrations and cutouts to communicate every key event she talks about.​​​​​​​
APPROACH
Working remotely within a team of eight designers and animators required close coordination throughout production. Daily meetings created a consistent space to share progress, review creative decisions, and keep every element aligned with the episode’s emotional direction. The team moved collectively between design development, illustration, character rigging, and animation, continually refining how each moment supported Laila’s voice.
APPROACH
The final sequence combined Photoshop artwork, After Effects animation, character-rigging tools, and hand-drawn cel animation to bring Laila’s memories to life. Photographs and illustrations were separated into layered compositions, allowing the team to add depth, camera movement, and character performance. Cel-animated details added warmth and texture, tying the different visual techniques together.
