The creative approach translated a complex policy discussion into a clear, accessible narrative for a broad online audience. Storyboarding, kinetic typography, interface animation, and visual metaphors were used to connect abstract regulatory ideas with familiar digital experiences. By balancing urgency with clarity, the film helped Access Now communicate why deceptive patterns matter, how platform design shapes everyday choices, and what stronger protections could mean for safer, more transparent online spaces worldwide.
APPROACH
The video examines how interface choices can quietly influence behaviour, encourage compulsive engagement, and make it harder for users to control their personal information. It also introduces proposed safeguards, including restrictions on manipulative design practices and the widely debated idea of banning visible Likes on social platforms.
